Goldenvoice Proposes
More Desert Fests

Goldenvoice has proposed to the city of Indio, Calif., a plan to hold up to five annual events at the polo fields home of the annual Coachella and Stagecoach festivals in the desert east of Los Angeles.

Two of the five festival weekends would take place during the fall, in addition to the three spring festivals inaugurated this year with two weekends of Coachella  and one of its country cousin, Stagecoach.

Goldenvoice proposes to increase attendance from 95,000 to 99,000 per day during the three spring festival weekends, and from 65,000 to 75,000 per day for those in the fall. Coachella currently maxes out at 95,000 per day while Stagecoach sells out at 65,000.

The festival site would also increase to accommodate the larger numbers, from the current 535 acres to 601, most on the Empire and Eldorado polo clubs sites, according to The Desert Sun

Goldenvoice and the City of Indio are in the process of developing an Environmental Impact Report, and the public is invited to comment until Oct. 1.
