Mohegan Enters NJ

New Jersey gaming regulators have finally granted the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority permission to operate the Resorts Casino Hotel a month after the tribe struck a deal with the state’s oldest gambling hall.

The deal will give the authority, which already operates mammoth tribal casinos in Uncasville, Conn., and Pennsylvania, a foothold in the Atlantic City market and 10 percent ownership of the business.

Should things go well, the tribe will reportedly have an option to purchase an additional 15 percent ownership stake in two years.
