Primus 3D In The Golden State

Primus’ psychedelic 3D tour has finally scheduled California into its road plans. However, the newly added shows aren’t part of the tour’s October-November timespan. Instead, Primus will play the Left Coast during the last week of 2012.

Touring in support of its Green Naugahyde album and featuring original 3D content created in conjunction with Burbank’s 3D Live, Primus will play San Diego’s Balboa Theatre Dec. 27; Los Angeles at The Wiltern Dec. 29; and San Francisco’s Warfield Theatre Dec. 30-31.

Presales begin Sept. 20 and general onsales launch Sept. 21. Visit Primusville.com for more info.

Journey Of Hope

Journey will help fight the good fight this fall when the famed San Francisco-area rock band plays the “One Night One Show One Cause Benefit” in support of the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center.

Set for Oct. 14 at the Modell Performing Arts Center at The Lyric, the evening will also feature a VIP pre-concert event hosted by Journey guitarist Neal Schon’s main squeeze, Michaele Salahi. You might remember Salahi from “Real Housewives Of D.C.” or when she and then-husband Tareq Salahi crashed a White House state dinner in 2009.

Hosted by Paul Reed Smith Guitars, the benefit will also include signature PRS guitars autographed and donated by such esteemed artists as Carlos Santana, Mark Tremonti, Slash, Taylor Swift and, of course, Schon.

Ticket prices begin at $75 and there are many VIP packages to choose from. Visit The Lyric’s website for more information.

About Those Postponed Santana Gigs In Florida

Remember back in August when Carlos Santana caught a cold forcing him to postpone shows scheduled for Florida towns Hollywood and Tampa?

Santana was scheduled to play Aug. 24-25 at the Hard Rock Live in Hollywood and Aug. 26 at the 1-800-Ask-Gary Amphitheatre in Tampa.

At first the dates were merely postponed, meaning the shows would eventually be rescheduled. However, word out of The Sunshine State is all three dates are now canceled and refunds are available at points of purchase.

However, the canceled Santana shows aren’t a total loss for humanity. While he was sick, the guitarist penned a stream-of-consciousness poem that he posted on his Facebook page.

Cold chills, chicken skin, the cold shakes,
Today I learned that your brain tells your body
To create cold chills so you can sweat a lot
To prevent you from having a seizure
when you sweat you cool down your body temperature
Especially if you have a very high hot fever
My way of life ( music ) is not a profession
Nor a job, it is a gift, like being anointed
By GOD to yes… HEAL,, with the divine medicine
Of sound resonance vibration
To give and receive cold chills
While you play is essential to A real musician
To touch people’s hearts from the center of your heart
It’s a must DO situation, endeavor, task, duty, experience
This way you immediately rearrange molecular structure
of the listener, you help them be free from their illusions
They drop the luggage, baggage, hang ups, resentments,
Unforgiveness and they cry, laugh, dance, scream and holler
I am free thank GOD all mighty
Free at last free at last
>From the fever of collective illusions and from self imposed fear
Chills of joy , cold chills of spiritual / sensual ecstasy
Carlos
