Flo Rida Appeals

Flo Rida is appealing a NSW Supreme Court order to pay more than $430,000 to Australian promoter Mothership Music.

He failed to show at the Fat As Butter festival in Newcastle last year, where he was a headliner.

Mothership Music sued for damage to the festival’s reputation and a future loss of ticket sales. When Mothership complained of difficulties serving the summons on the rapper in person. Justice Judith Gibson allowed the company to serve it via Facebook, a first for a civil case.

But Flo Rida’s attorneys in their appeal contend the summons “was not validly served on the appellant” and that Justice Gibson did not have the jurisdiction to serve the summons by Facebook. 

Under the original ruling, any money made by Flo Rida in Australia is frozen until the debt is paid. 
 
This year’s Fat As Butter Sept. 22, drew 11,000 to a bill with Good Charlotte, Yellowcard, Wheatus, Eiffel 65 and N-Trance with Australian rock band Grinspoon and platinum rapper 360.
