The announcement that the Sept. 28 show has been pushed back comes three days after Billie Joe Armstrong’s rant at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas in which the Green Day frontman complained that his band’s time on stage was cut short.

“One minute left, one minute (expletive) left. You’re gonna give me (expletive) one minute? … I’m not (expletive) Justin Bieber, you (expletives)!” Armstrong yelled. (Bieber was not on the lineup).

To make sure he got his point across, Armstrong smashed his guitar before leaving the stage.

As rock star rants go, Armstrong’s was pretty tame. No matter, his little screaming session got the most press coverage of all the acts appearing at the second annual two-day festival at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Presented by Clear Channel Radio and Live Nation, iHeart is like one mammoth radio station festival in that it features top-name talent with acts performing a few songs each instead of a full concert set.

As news spread about Armstrong’s rant, a Green Day representative eventually announced that the guitarist/songwriter/singer was headed for a stint in rehab for substance abuse. The announcement also made it clear that Green Day’s set was not cut short by Clear Channel. Guess that radio airplay still makes a difference.

Meanwhile, Sept. 28 at San Francisco’s Fillmore has been postponed and a new date has yet to be announced. Green Day’s next scheduled gig is at New Orleans’ “Voodoo Experience” festival Oct. 27.
