Mother-in-Law Lounge To Reopen
One of New Orleans’ most famous musicians has been granted permission to turn the lights back on at one of the city’s most famous venues.
City officials recently voted to allow trumpet player Kermit Ruffins to reopen Ernie K-Doe’s Mother-in-Law Lounge. The venue had been closed since December 2010 and reportedly had to undergo a zoning change and apply for a new conditional-use permit.
Ruffins has spruced up the place, which was operated for years by the widow of the rhythm-and-blues eccentric as a shrine to her late husband.
