Additionally, local company Carmen’s has been selected to operate the city’s convention center, and plans are in the works for a new downtown hotel development.
The venues are currently operated by the city’s Hamilton Entertainment and Convention Facilities Inc. at a cost of $1.3 million annually, according to the CBC.
Global Spectrum’s Frank Russo told the network the company has had its eye on Hamilton for some time.
“It’s a major Canadian city, a major coliseum, and a great opportunity to expand our business,” he said. “We’ve had it on our target list.”
Under the new agreement, the city could reportedly save as much as $6.84 million over the next five years.
