“We can officially stop wondering if Music Midtown is back,” said the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The event drew a capacity 50,000 to The Meadow at Piedmont Park each of the two days of the event, Sept. 21-22. Acts included headliners Foo Fighters and Pearl Jam, along with a diverse lineup that included Girl Talk and T.I., fresh faces like L.P. and Civil Twilight, and a well-reviewed performance by Adam Ant.

Conlon announced the return in 2010, and the festival played at The Meadow for one day last September. Atlanta’s Music Midtown was summer staple from 1994 to 2005.

“I’m very happy with this year’s festival,” Conlon told Pollstar. “It exceeded our expectations. We thought it would be a three-year build but we’re very happy with the turnout this year. The word on the street has been very positive. Everybody seemed to have a very good time and enjoyed it.

He attributed some of the success to the Midtown brand, lineup, site and weather.

“But based on our advance sales, even though the weather was great it was doing well anyway,” he said.

Live Nation is “looking into” further expansion.

“It’s too soon to say but we’re obviously having some discussions.”
