Roberts Stadium Still Being Demolished

Roberts Stadium is a step closer to history now that an Indiana judge has dismissed a lawsuit seeking to prevent its demolition and the site’s conversion into a park.

Vanderburgh Superior Court Judge Richard D’Amour said in the Oct. 2 ruling that it would be against the public interest to stop the process of demolishing the 56-year-old Roberts Stadium.

Evansville businessman Alan Brill sued to stop the venue’s demolition, saying he believed it could be successfully repurposed as an exposition center that would not compete with the city’s new Ford Center.

City officials hope to start the Roberts Stadium demolition by the end of the year.
