No Voodoo For Green Day

New Orleans’ Voodoo Music & Arts Experience announces Green Day won’t headline the annual Halloween blowout as planned. Meanwhile, festival organizer Rehage Entertainment says it is working on plans to revise the schedule.

Green Day nixing Voodoo is the latest development stemming from Billie Joe Armstrong’s meltdown at the iHeart Music Festival in Las Vegas Sept. 21 and his subsequent stay in rehab. While Green Day was playing the Clear Channel Radio extravaganza, Armstrong complained about the band’s time being cut short before he smashed his guitar and walked off stage.

Green Day issued a statement saying the band apologized “to those they offended” and that the set was not cut short by Clear Channel.

One day later a band representative said Armstrong was going to get treatment for substance abuse.

Voodoo, scheduled for Oct. 26-28 at New Orleans’ City Park, is now feeling the repercussions. Green Day was supposed to top the Oct. 27 lineup.

We are obviously disappointed in the news, but realize the health and wellbeing of Billie Joe is the most important thing right now. We wish him and the entire Green Day family the best and offer them our full support.”

With Neil Young & Crazy Horse headlining Oct. 26 and Jack White Oct. 28, this year’s Voodoo includes performances by The Avett Brothers, Justice, Silversun Pickups, Skrillex, Nas, Coheed And Cambria, Kaskade, Bootsy Collins, Awolnation, and more.
