Aldean’s Stadium Adventure

When country star Jason Aldean appeared at Boston’s Fenway Park to announce he would play the home of baseball’s Green Monster, he didn’t mention he had two more stadiums to visit before the sun set.
Jason Aldean announces his July 13, 2013 gig at Boston’s Fenway Park.

After revealing his Boston show, he headed to Chicago and Wrigley Field where he played a few songs for fans and announced yet a second stadium gig.

But Aldean had one more location to hit before his day was complete and traveled to Athens, Ga., to announce a spring concert at Sanford Stadium.

“I’ve known about these shows for a while so it’s been hard for me [to] keep quiet, you know?” Aldean said. “I found myself every now and then telling a friend, ‘You can’t tell nobody, but, uh, guess what?’”

Evidently the original plan was to keep fans guessing, with Aldean suddenly popping up in each of the three cities. But after announcing his Boston gig, the game was afoot. One fan tracked his private plane, all the time updating other fans about the craft’s location. By the time his plane was approaching Athens, students at the University of Georgia were already buzzing about the impending big reveal that would cap a very busy day for Aldean.

“It takes a lot to make me nervous, but walking out of the dugout at Fenway this morning to announce our show there definitely did it,” Aldean said. “It’s the kind of moment you dream about your whole career, so I tried to take a minute to soak it up, but it’s pretty overwhelming. It was an incredible day as we went on to Wrigley for that announcement and then finished it up tonight with a surprise performance for the fans at University Of Georgia. It’s a day that I’m never going to forget.”
