Chugg’s Country

Promoter Michael Chugg and performer Adam Brand are tapped as speakers for the second Country Music Radio Seminar Australia, where they will discuss ways to increase airplay for the sector.

Chugg Entertainment toured Dixie Chicks, Taylor Swift, Dolly Parton, Keith Urban, Alan Jackson, Brooks & Dunn and Tim McGraw downunder.

Brand, whose current album There Will Be Love debuted at  No. 14 on the ARIA Hot 100, was voted most popular country artist five years running by Country Music Channel (CMC) viewers.

Other speakers include country radio veteran Trevor Smith, Sydney radio station Cool Country 2KA GM Noel Macdonald, and Community Broadcasting Association of Australia GM Kath Letch.

The meet takes place in country music capital Tamworth Jan. 24, and is organised by the Country Music Association (CMA) Australian Advisory Group (AAG) and the Tamworth Country Music Festival.

Rob Potts, chair of the AAG and CEO of Entertainment Edge, said, “Radio remains the most direct way for country artists to reach album, song and ticket buying fans. The growth of many new country radio stations in Australia, plus the advent of digital radio, is providing many more opportunities for Australian and International country music and the Australian radio industry. We are keen to see the development of a more hit-driven radio format similar to ones that already exist for most other music genres.”
