Surprise Rave Stopped

The manager of a 45-acre estate in rural Georgia got a bit of a shock when he saw the property promoted as the location for a massive Halloween rave that drew interest from 2,800 people on Facebook.

The Camp Crystal Lake Mansion Rave Party at the Jackson Lake House Estate in Dawson County was billed as “the biggest rave/house party of the year.”

Problem was, the place had apparently been rented out to a man who’d promised a mere dozen revelers would be using the house.

“He said there’d be no more than 12 people,” property manager Edwin Alexander told the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Alexander says the gates will remain locked and the party – set for Oct. 30 – will not happen. The local sheriff’s department will assist in turning away ravers who didn’t get the memo.

The fest’s Eventbrite page had been removed at press time but a Facebook listing for the rave boasted DJs in three separate areas, a massive main stage tent, a laser light show, foam pit and fireworks show. The post also said shuttles would be available and said all profits from the event would go to the Wounded Warrior project that helps injured veterans.

“I feel for the people who have already bought tickets because it’s not going to happen,” Alexander added. “That many people would destroy this place. This will not become a mini-Woodstock, not if we can help it.”
