Anderson Drops ‘Interim’ At Barclays

David Anderson officially becomes Barclays Center’s permanent GM effective immediately, AEG announced.

He’s served as the interim GM the past four months after working on the Brooklyn, N.Y., project for the last year.

The building, which seats 18,000 for Brooklyn Nets basketball and 19,000 for concerts, opened a month ago with a Jay-Z concert and is already in full swing with some 220 events on the books its inaugural year.

“In the last four months, David has built a team that has launched one of the most successful venue openings in our industry’s history,’ AEG Facilities President Bob Newman said.  “He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of building operations and guest services, and is an exceptional leader that has built a foundation for many years of success.”

Before joining the Barclays team, Anderson was regional director of operations for AEG Facilities. He started his AEG career in Los Angeles at the Staples Center in 2000 and moved on to assist planning and opening the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.

He has also served as assistant GM and VP of the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo.

He’s earned his international chops, too, assisting with the openings of MasterCard Center in Beijing and Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai, China, as well as Turk Telekom Arena in Istanbul, Turkey.
