Promoter Back In Court

A promoter with a history of bilking investors out of funds for failed concerts is once again facing charges for stealing from a motorcycle club.

Ben Shawa allegedly took $47,000 from the Grand Haven Eagles for a series of concerts in 2010. He recently waived his preliminary exam in a Grand Haven, Mich., court over charges of false pretenses and larceny by conversion, the local WOOD-TV reported.

According to terms of his plea deal, Shawa will return $26,000 to the Grand Haven Eagles and plead to a lesser charge, the station said.

Shawa was arrested last year after disappearing and leaving behind major debts to sponsors and investors for the failed Bike’N’ Roll Fest.

He was also wanted on a parole violation from 2004 for a grand theft conviction in Florida that reportedly netted $100,000 from investors.
