Orpheum’s New Management

The historic Orpheum Theater in Madison, Wis., is reopening under new management following a recent court decision.

Local promoter Frank Productions has assumed management duties at the venue and brought Austin, Texas-based C3 Presents aboard to assist with programming and operations.

“Madison is our home and the Orpheum has always been one of the centerpieces of the entertainment community,” Frank Productions’ Fred Frank said. “The Orpheum is a very significant part of the State Street landscape and we look forward to restoring the historic theater back into a venue this city can be proud of.”

The Orpheum got caught up in a messy feud between its owners and the city’s alcohol commission earlier this year and was eventually foreclosed upon after losing its liquor license and facing financial difficulties.

As part of the foreclosure process, the Dane County Circuit Court appointed attorney Rebecca DeMarb as the Orpheum’s receiver, who in turn tapped Frank Productions to help keep the venue afloat.

The theater could be sent to a sheriff’s sale following the foreclosure process, which typically takes eight to 12 months, according to the local Capital Times. Frank has reportedly expressed interest in bidding on the property.
