Curtains For The Civil Wars?

Rumors about The Civil Wars canceling dates first emerged when individual promoters began announcing cancelations. The group eventually posted a message on their Facebook page Nov. 2 saying they were canceling the remainder of their European tour after tonight’s (Nov. 6) gig at the Camden Roundhouse in London. The message also said “The band are extremely regretful, and their reasons are personal. There is no more information at this time.”

Now it appears The Civil Wars has been suffering from, well, a civil war. The group’s latest Facebook message cites “internal discord and irreconcilable differences” as making The Civil Wars “unable to continue as a touring entity at this time.”

But regardless of the bad news, Williams and White indicated that The Civil Wars isn’t totally kaput. At least not yet.

Here’s the complete message:

“We sincerely apologize for the canceling of all our tour dates. It is something we deeply regret. However, due to internal discord and irreconcilable differences of ambition we are unable to continue as a touring entity at this time. We thank each and every one of you for your amazing love & support. Our sincere hope is to have new music for you in 2013.”

The Civil Wars won Grammy awards for Best Country Duo/Group Performance and Best Folk Album in 2012 for their 2011 debut album, Barton Hollow. The group has two EPs to its credit – 2009’s Poison & Wine and 2011’s Tracks In The Snow.
