First Look At 2013 SXSW

The first round of invited acts confirmed to play SXSW in 2013 has been unveiled with musicians hailing from as near as the fest’s home of Austin, Texas, to as far as Nairobi, Kenya. The alphabetical list contains more than 200 acts from Akron/Family to The Zombies.

The 27th SXSW Music and Media Conference is set for March with the music festival scheduled March 12-17, film March 8-16, and interactive March 8-12. The music showcases take place at more than 100 venues throughout downtown Austin. The Austin Convention Center is the place you’ll want to be for daytime panel programming, the SXSW Trade Show, the Radio Day Stage and the Ballroom G Day Stage.

Acts playing the 2013 festival include Pokey LaFarge, Atlas Genius, Thurston Moore, Charlotte Church, Of Mice & Men, Klaxons, Civil Twilight, The Postelles, He’s My Brother She’s My Sister, Gallows, Turbo Fruits, While She Sleeps, Paper Lions, Jung People and Somebody’s Darling.

Expect many, many more acts to be announced. In 2012 SXSW featured 2,286 bands on 104 stages.

If you’d like the chance to perform at SXSW, you can apply now via the festival’s website. Playing at SXSW represents one heck of an opportunity for artists. The fest estimates more than 19,000 music industry professionals (including nearly 3,000 media representatives) will be there, along with thousands of fans.

Badges are on sale now.

Music Badges are priced at $675 through Nov. 9. After that the price increases to $695 up through Jan. 11. These badges includes six nights of music; five days of music panels, keynotes and Q&A sessions; four days at the SXSW trade show; four days of day stage programming; unlimited networking opportunities and more.

Fans who would also like to check out the film and interactive conferences will want to purchase a platinum badge, which are priced at $1,250 through Nov. 9.
