Multiple Ticketing At NZ Venue

Auckland multi-purpose event and entertainment facility The Trusts Arena became the first venue in New Zealand to introduce multiple ticketing agencies.

TicketDirect remains as the house provider of tickets since 2006. Starting Nov. 19, TicketekTicketmaster and new venue ticketing agent EventFinda NZ will begin also sourcing their own business for the arena, which draws 600,000 a year for events including conventions, trade shows, music concerts and local, national and international sporting events.

“It’s about giving our clients and patrons some choice,” venue CEO Brian Blake explained. “You wouldn’t buy a car and be told where you can drive it, so why would you do it with ticketing? Competition is far better for our clients, and drives even better experiences for our patrons.

“The days of venues pushing secretive and hidden deals with ticket agents are coming to an end, and we find our clients work with us better when we’re not limiting their choices. It’s not rocket science is it?”

The Trusts Arena is hosting the Woodstock Honey Fight for Life, a charity boxing match featuring 10 rugby stars promoted by Duco Events Dec. 15.

“We chose to use both TicketDirect and Ticketmaster because it’ll sell tickets for us and at the end of the day that’s what matters,” co-director Dean Lonergan said. “All credit should be given to the guys at The Trusts Arena for trying something new and finally giving us some real choice.”
