Scoreboard Fire Fools Fans

The fire department in Regina, Saskatchewan, was fuming recently over a video mishap at Mosaic Stadium At Taylor Field that left some worrying the stadium had gone up in flames.

A flaming Yule log was displayed on the field’s video scoreboard for several weeks, according to CBC News, and the fire department was apparently called out to snuff the blaze several times during that period.

Worried callers described “a very bright flame,” Deputy Fire Chief Gerard Kay told the News, and some even reported “the smell of smoke.”

The Canadian Football League’s Saskatchewan Roughriders, which play in the stadium and select the feed for the video screens, eventually got the message.

The burning log was apparently taken down and replaced with “Thank You.”
