Overdoses Stop Zeds Dead Show

Officials pulled the plug on a recent Zeds Dead concert at Philadelphia’s Electric Factory after several concertgoers were hospitalized for possible drug overdoses during the leadup to the show.

Police were called to the venue around 8 p.m. the night of the performance and found nine concertgoers – reportedly including some teenagers – passed out.

The fans were taken to a hospital and are expected to recover.

The Electric Factory is an all-ages venue although access to bar areas is restricted, and some angry concertgoers took to the venue’s Facebook page to complain.

“Teenage CHILDREN should not be at these shows indulging in activities that ruin everything for everybody,” one fan wrote.

Following the cancellation, Zeds Dead announced on Twitter the show was being moved to Lit Ultrabar. A makeup concert is also in the works.

Promoter Deathwaltz Media Group told the Philadelphia Inquirer the hospitalizations were “very sad”, adding in a statement that it hoped “everyone can learn from this and start enjoying these concerts without the use of drugs.”
