The Mnet Asian Music Awards ceremony was Nov. 30 in Hong Kong but, despite the name and location, was still dominated by Korean acts.
Not surprisingly, rapper Psy won four awards, for best dance performance solo, international favorite artist, best music video and song of the year.
However, he lost artist of the year to Korean boy band Big Bang which also won the best male group award. Best male artist went to Big Bang leader G-Dragon.
Compatriots SISTAR won for best female group, beating more seasoned nominees like Kara, Girls’ Generation and 2NE1 Best new female artist went to Ailee, a K-pop singer from New Jersey.
Adam Lambert and B.o.B. provided guest performances, the former singing two songs and the latter collaborating with Korean singers Seo In-young and K. Will on several of the American rapper’s hits.
