Odds & Ends: The Killers, Carrie Underwood, The Flaming Lips & More

The Killers have added another festival headline date to their schedule, Carrie Underwood’s illness changes her schedule (and paycheck), and The Flaming Lips have released a sneak peek at their Freak Night concert film.

The Killers will headline Isle Of Wight Festival this summer at Seaclose Park in Newport, United Kingdom. And the fest has even revealed which day the rock band is taking the stage – Saturday, June 15. So far, Isle Of Wight’s lineup also features headliners The Stone Roses and Bon Jovi, along with acts including Jake Bugg, The Script, Bloc Party, Ellie Goulding, Bonnie Raitt and Fun.

Tickets are on sale now.

The latest video from The Flaming Lips is a five-minute preview of the band’s “Freak Night” concert film.

The freaky night took place Oct. 26 in the band’s hometown of Oklahoma City at the Oklahoma City Zoo Amphitheatre. According to The Oklahoman, the free show (and “costume party”) held the weekend before Halloween celebrated the last show booked at the outdoor venue by Innervisions and Facilities Management Group. The company had operated the Oklahoma City Zoo Amphitheatre for the last decade.

The Lips’ YouTube description for the concert preview says that fans should “Look for The Flaming Lips Freak Night concert video very soon!!!”

Lips frontman Wayne Coyne tweeted an image from the video Dec. 12, writing, “Still from Freak Night!!! Comes out next week!! Halloween for Christmas!!”

After playing Chicago on Dec. 12, Carrie Underwood tweeted, “I’ve officially lost my voice!!! I guess my day off tomorrow will be spent at the doctor!” Two days later she managed to make it to her show in Des Moines, Iowa – but apparently she wasn’t feeling totally healthy.

A video posted online by a fan shows the country singer addressing the crowd and saying, “I’m giving everything a million percent, but I’m still only getting to about half of where I want to be, and I’m not used to that. So, I feel real guilty about making any money off of this show tonight, so whatever I’m making is just going to go right back into this community because I feel like that’s the right thing to do.”

An announcement on Underwood’s website says that because of illness Dec. 15’s show at the Sprint Center in Kansas City has been postponed to May 1. Her show in Springfield, Ill., has now been rescheduled to May 6. Tickets for the original Kansas City show will be honored at the new date.

And finally, over the weekend both Kelly Clarkson and Deadmau5 used Twitter to announce their recent engagements (not to each other). According to Entertainment Tonight, Clarkson’s lucky guy is talent manager Brandon Blackstock, the son of the singer’s manager and the stepson of Reba McEntire. Deadmau5 popped the question to tattoo artist and TV personality Kat Von D.

“I’M ENGAGED!!!!! I wanted y’all to know!! Happiest night of my life last night! I am so lucky and am with the greatest man ever :)” Clarkson tweeted Dec. 15.

Deadmau5 also shared his big news with the world Dec. 15.

“I can’t wait for Christmas so…. Katherine Von Drachenberg, will you marry me?” Deadmau5 tweeted.
