So here we are on Christmas, and here you are on Pollstar.com. Seriously? Well, you’re in luck. We have a special gift for you: Click here for a Christmas song you’ve never heard before that sounds a lot like Journey and Metallica.

We’ve always kept ties with Rock Sugar, a band down in L.A. that mashes up rock songs with girl pop. They took one of their earlier songs – a mashup of Journey and Metallica – and added Christmas lyrics. I got the song emailed from the singer, Jess Harnell, and gave it a listen. At first I was like eh? And then was like oh. The lyrics are clever (“Rudolph leading; his nose looks like its overheated” / “There’s no exchanges, there’s no returns; he’s got a lot of tricks he’s learned; he’s in the chimney but he doesn’t burn,” etc.)

Harnell said he wrote the lyrics in a fit of creativity at 2 a.m. Then again, that’s usually when he sends text messages.

Of course, after a few years of trying to get their songs on the radio, THIS is the one that has been getting airplay at stations here and abroad. And, yes, we can pretty much make the call that former Journey singer Steve Perry did not sing this (Harnell’s day job is voice related).

More importantly, this gave me a chance to learn how to upload music to YouTube.

By the way, Pollstar readers: Merry Christmas from us to you, you knuckleheads. We hope you got Windows 8 as a gift. Just kidding. We hope you got what you wanted.
