Blast Set For Blaster Phil Alvin
Alvin’s medical situation dates back to July when the singer underwent an emergency tracheotomy while in Spain, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. While Alvin has recovered from the procedure, he still has medical bills to pay.
Set for Jan. 26 at the Observatory Theatre. “Brotherly Love: A Night For Our Brother Phil Alvin” will feature The Blasters’ original lineup of brothers Phil and Dave along with bassist John Bazz and drummer Bill Bateman.
Also appearing will be X, The Knitters, James Harman, Frank Fairfield and the Mike Eldred Trio. The festivities will be hosted by M.C. Big Sandy. Expect the lineup to grow between now and show time.
Be sure to bring some extra dollars. A reproduction of the Fender Mustang Guitar Dave Alvin played while in The Blasters and signed by the evening’s performers will be auctioned off. Also on the auction block will be a special poster created by Portland Graphic artist Gary Houston. Click here for more information.
