Green Day Announces 2013 Dates

Green Day has a new set of dates on the books. Having postponed a road trip that was to launch in January, the band announces a new plan for 2013. The latest chapter in the saga of Billie Joe Armstrong & Co. begins in March.

That there might have been problems within the Green Day fold became evident at September’s iHeart Radio Festival in Las Vegas when, during the band’s performance, Armstrong began complaining that the set had been cut short, saying he was not “Justin Bieber.” Armstrong followed his rant by smashing his guitar before walking off stage.

it was eventually announced that Armstrong was to undergoe treatment for substance abuse.

Since then, Green Day canceled a series of club dates scheduled for the fall, an appearance at New Orleans’ Voodoo Festival and postponed a tour that was to begin in January in Green Bay, Wis.

Green Day also released a trilogy of new releases. Green Day ¡Uno!, Green Day ¡Dos! and Green Day ¡Tré!

The newly released schedule includes dates on the East Coast and in the Midwest as well as a couple of shows in Canada. The announcement also promises that “additional West Coast dates will be announced in early 2013.”

Along with the new schedule comes a message from Armstrong that the frontman posted on Instagram.

“Dear friends … I just want to thank you all for the love and support you’ve shown for the past few months. Believe me, it hasn’t gone unnoticed and I’m eternally grateful to have such an amazing set of friends and family. I’m getting better every day. So now, without further ado, the show must go on. We can’t wait to get on the road and live out loud! Our passion has only grown stronger.”
