Widespread Panic Eyes April Run

Promising its first full electric set up since 2011, Widespread Panic reveals its spring tour beginning in St. Louis in April.  With tickets going on sale at the end of this week, destinations include Minneapolis, Louisville, Chicago and Nashville.

Why the emphasis on “electric set up?”  That’s just to tell you that this tour is fully plugged in as opposed to the band’s well received acoustic “Wood Tour” that took place in early 2012.   Fortunately, that piece of Widespread Panic history has been preserved in the double CD/3 LP boxed set called Wood.

For the spring journey Widespread Panic is mixing its venues, playing intimate rooms as well as a few larger buildings with multiple nights planned for several cities.  Here’s the itinerary:

April 9 – St. Louis, Mo., Peabody Opera House
April 10 – St. Louis, Mo., Peabody Opera House
April 12 – Chicago, Ill., UIC Pavilion
April 13 – Chicago, Ill., UIC Pavilion
April 14 – Minneapolis, Minn., Orpheum Theatre

April 27 – Alpharetta, Ga., Verizon Wireless Amph. At Encore Park
