Ticketfly Expands To Canada
The social ticketing platform recently acquired Prime Box Office, a Calgary-based ticketing company that acts as the exclusive agent for the city’s MacEwan Hall Ballroom and The Starlite Room in Edmonton, Alberta.
It also picked up clients in The Union, which promotes shows across Canada from its Calgary headquarters, and the Toronto-based Collective Concerts.
Collective Concerts is the exclusive promoter for Lee’s Palace and The Legendary Horseshoe Tavern and also produces concerts at other Ontario venues.
To oversee operations in the country, the company has tapped former Ticketmaster Canada director Bruce Morrison, who’ll work out of Ticketfly’s new Toronto office.
“The integrated and forward-thinking toolset that Ticketfly offers to its clients is invaluable,” Morrison said. “By enabling clients to save time, sell more tickets and maintain control of their events, Ticketfly positions itself as a serious new alternative for Canadian venue, promoters, artists and fans.”
And that rings especially true when you consider the market, Ticketfly CMO Gannon Hall added.
“According to comScore, Canadians have the highest level of internet usage worldwide and are power users of social networks,” he said. “Our platform leverages the mobile and social web to turn fans into marketers, increasing event discovery and driving ticket sales.”
Other new clients include the University of Calgary and Ontario metal promoter Inertia Entertainment.
