Lupe Leaves The Party

Looks like Lupe Fiasco won’t be invited back to any presidential inauguration events ever again.

The rapper – who has never shied away from saying what he thinks about the president – was forced off the stage at a party in Washington, D.C., Jan. 20 because he wouldn’t stop complaining about President Barack Obama. He literally would not stop.

Fiasco, performing at the Hypervocal pre-inaugural party – told the crowd he was not a fan of Obama, then proceeded to play a 2011 song called “Words I Never Said.”

Lyrics include:

Gaza strip was getting bombed, Obama didn’t say shit
That’s why I ain’t vote for him, next one either
I’m a part of the problem, my problem is I’m peaceful
And I believe in the people.

The song even delves into questioning the collapse of WTC Building 7 on 9/11 and other pre-Obama concerns.

About a half-hour into the song, the stage lights were turned off and security personnel escorted Fiasco from the stage.

Although it could be argued organizers dismissed Fiasco for his anti-establishment views, Hypervocal said that was not the case at all. It was simply a time constraint.

“Lupe Fiasco was not ‘kicked off stage’ for an ‘anti-Obama rant,’” the media company said. “We are staunch supporters of free speech, and free political speech. This was not about his opinions. Instead, after a bizarrely repetitive, jarring performance that left the crowd vocally dissatisfied, organizers decided to move on to the next act.”
