Northeast Snowstorm Not Exactly Concert Friendly

As the U.S. Northeast braces for what could be a snowstorm of historic proportions, some concerts have already been postponed or canceled in anticipation of the predicted “white out.”

As much as three feet of snow is predicted to fall on the Eastern Seaboard from New York to Boston and beyond. As airlines cancel flights and local officials warn residents to stay off the streets, Pollstar is now seeing the first wave of postponements and/or cancellations.

Daughtry with 3 Doors Down at the DCU Center in Worcester, Mass., has been postponed.  A new date will be announced soon.

The 10,000 Maniacs gig scheduled for tonight at City Winery in New York City has been postponed.  A message on the venue’s website says a new date will be announced shortly.

Tonight’s Grace Potter And The Nocturnals performance at Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel in Providence, R.I., has been moved to Feb. 11.

The Temptations / Four Tops concert scheduled for tonight at the Mayo Performing Arts Center in Morristown, N.J., has been moved to March 14.

Tonight’s Branford Marsalis gig at Scullers Jazz Club in Boston has been canceled.

David Cassidy won’t be playing The Tarrytown Music Hall in Tarrytown, N.YH., tonight.  That gig has been canceled.

Sevendust with Lacuna Coil at Crocodile Rock in Allentown, Pa., has been postponed.  A new date will be announced shortly.

At this time the changes listed above only represent a small fraction of shows scheduled for areas expected to be covered in snow within the next 24 hours, and should not be viewed as a complete list of canceled or postponed concerts.  People planning to see shows this weekend in the Northeast should check with the venues before venturing out into winter’s wonderland.
