Japandroids’s U.S. Invasion

Japandroids has filled in its schedule in between festival appearances from May 24 at Sasquatch! Music Festival in Quincy, Wash., to June 22 at Firefly Music Festival in Dover, Del., with a dozen U.S. headline dates.

The rockers don’t actually hail from Japan. The Canadian rock duo came up with its name by mixing drummer/co-vocalist David Prowse’s idea of Japanese Scream with guitarist/co-vocalist Brian King’s suggestion of Pleasure Droids, according to Exclaim!

Touring in support of its sophomore album, 2012’s Celebration Rock, Japandroids has plenty of dates to take care of before May. After playing Snowball Music Festival in Winter Park, Colo., Austin’s SXSW and Vive Latino in Mexico City this month, the band is headed to Europe with The Gaslight Anthem. Once it’s back on this side of the Atlantic, the duo has booked appearances at Coachella in Indio, Calif., as well as a handful of additional gigs in the Golden State.

Here’s the itinerary for the new dates:

May 27 – Milwaukee, Wis., Turner Hall Ballroom
May 28 – Indianapolis, Ind., The Vogue
May 29 – Lawrence, Kan., Granada Theatre
May 31 – Austin, Texas, Emo’s
