Albany’s The Egg Under Scrutiny

A New York State agency report regarding the non-profit The Egg entertainment complex in Albany says the venue is in need of more solid oversight and planning.

The facility overseen by a public benefit corporation houses the 982-capacity Kitty Carlisle Hart Theatre and 450-capacity Lewis A. Swyer Theatre and hosts a variety of concerts and other events.

The state Authorities Budget Office reportedly said that vacancies on the board of directors, absent members from board meetings as well as the venue losing money despite a busy schedule are issues that need to be addressed, according to the city’s Times Union.

The Authorities Budget Office reportedly recommends the building be run by a professional venue contractor or by the state.
The state-appointed board will discuss the report recommendations during a March 21 meeting.
