Weezer On The Ocean

Weezer announces its 2014 cruise, a for-sure rollicking adventure on the Caribbean sailing out of Jacksonville, Fla., in February. Along with exotic ports of call the voyage includes three sets by Rivers Cuomo and the boys, including a beach concert on a private island.

Set for Feb. 13-17, the second Weezer Cruise includes several bands yet to be announced as well as all the attractions you’ve come to expect from your musical adventures at sea, including shipboard casinos, swimming pools, gym, gourmet dining, poker & craps tournaments … the whole shebang.

Plus you get Weezer-oriented activities such as Q&As with the band, the interactive Weezer Game Show and a photo session.  There will also be evening theme nights, complimentary meals, a one-hour open bar and more.

Presented by Rose Tours, stops include popular Bahamas destinations Freeport and Nassau.  While other bands have yet to be hand-picked by Weezer personnel, last year’s lineup included Dinosaur Jr., Sebadoh, Wavves, The Antlers, Yuck and Free Energy.

Aside from performing, Weezer members led the charge when it came to shipboard activities during the band’s first cruise. Brian Bell hosted a movie night where proper dress was p.j.s and robes, Pat Wilson ran a shuffleboard tournament, Scott Shriner led couples through their wedding vow renewals and Cuomo gave readings of his book, “Pinkerton Diaries.”  No telling what the band has in store for you this year.

But in order to spend a few days on a cruise ship with 2,000 other Weezer fans, you must be ready when the pre-sale reservation period begins March 20 followed by the general onsale March 21.  Click here for more info.
