Maffei Named Live Nation Chairman
Liberty Media CEO Greg Maffei has filled one of the former roles of Irving Azoff, having been named non-executive Chairman of the Board of Live Nation. Maffei has served on the board since February 2011.
“Greg brings years of experience and business acumen that will continue to be a valuable asset as our team executes on the three-year plan, driving profitability and shareholder value,” Live Nation Michael Rapino said.
Azoff resigned from the position at the end of 2012. He was also the chief executive of Front Line Management, which has been renamed Artist Nation. Maffei does not assume that role.
Meanwhile, Liberty Media – chaired by John Malone – has increased its stake in Live Nation, buying more than $19 million worth of stock.
“Michael (Rapino) and his team have made Live Nation the most pervasive brand in live entertainment,” Maffei said. “I look forward to further collaboration with Michael and my fellow board members.”
