Berkeley Shooting Suspect Arrested

Authorities in Berkeley, Calif., have charged a parolee with attempted murder and robbery, among other charges, related to a shooting at the city’s Ashkenaz club March 16.

Christopher James Washington and another man were armed when they stormed the venue, police told the San Francisco Chronicle, and demanded cash.

Two employees of the club were shot during the incident and taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Washington was also charged for being a felon in possession of a weapon and for sexual penetration with a foreign object in an alleged attack on a woman, the Chronicle reported.

If convicted, he could face up to life in prison under California’s Three Strikes law.

The other suspect is still at large
