Animal Collective Reschedules More March Gigs

The indie rock band promised last week that the members were doing everything they could to reschedule their postponed March 16-24 gigs ASAP. The North American shows will now take place in September and October.

Earlier in March Animal Collective was forced to put a handful of dates on hold for July. Without getting into specifics the band simply said the postponements were “due to a band illness.”

On March 17 multi-instrumentalist Avey Tare revealed he was the one who was sick, writing, “it kills me to have to postpone these shows and it’s something I could never even have imagined happening.”

He added, ”because of the strain on my voice that’s being caused by an intense case of strep throat I am unable to play any of these show. Unfortunately, I wasn’t diagnosed soon enough and haven’t been able to kick this in the right amount of time.”

All of the March 16-24 gigs were rescheduled with the exception of March 24 in Boise, Idaho, because it was a festival appearance.

Here are the new dates:

Sept. 8 – Salt Lake City, Utah, The Depot
Sept. 9 – Denver, Colo., Ogden Theatre
Sept. 11 – Minneapolis, Minn., First Avenue
Oct. 16 – Madison, Wis., Orpheum Theater
Oct. 17 – Chicago, Ill., Riviera Theatre
Oct. 24 – Kansas City, Mo., The Midland By AMC
Oct. 25 – St. Louis, Mo., The Pageant

Tickets for the postponed shows will be honored for the new gigs. Refunds are also available at point of purchase.

Animal Collective is due back on the road May 22 in Nimes, France.
