PrimaveraPro Shows Its Hand
Libertine Carl Barat and Martin Atkins (PiL, Nine Inch Nails and Ministry) will be among the speakers at this year’s PrimaveraPro, which will be in Barcelona May 22-24.
Atkins also wrote the recently published book “Welcome to the Music Industry: You’re F ** ked.”
Last year the third edition of the showcase conference smashed its attendance records by attracting 1,400 delegates, 27 percent more than in 2011.
This year’s daytime programme will mainly focus on three issues: The artist’s role in society and in music; festivals and major music events, and new ways of promoting and financing of music.
Other panelists include Glastonbury Festival booker Malcolm Haynes, Songkick co-founder and chief exec Ian Hogarth, and Jon-Paul Waddington from Liverpool’s In The City and Sound City.
PrimaveraPro runs in parallel with the city’s Primavera Sound Festival , which last year laid claim to being Europe’s fastest-growing festival.
Last year it also smashed its attendance record by attracting 117,000 people to Barcelona’s Parc del Fòrum over three days, easily beating the 101,000 it pulled for its 10th-anniversary edition in 2010.
Primavera Sound festival, which has Blur, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, My Bloody Valentine, and The Jesus And Mary Chain, among others, is May 22-26.
