Two Days To Go Until The Stones’ Big News

The band has spent the last few days scattering hints around the Internet and through the states via billboards and video projections about an announcement coming Wednesday. Of course, everyone is thinking this means the routing will be revealed for The Rolling Stones’ 18-show May/June arena tour.

Beginning March 29, photos and videos of the billboards and video projections were posted on the band’s Tumblr, Twitter and Facebook pages with the hashtag #StartMeUpWednesday. Adorned with the iconic tongue and lip logo, the signs feature Stones lyrics and song titles followed by “Wednesday.”

At the Chicago Transit Authority’s Roosevelt station, a video screen proclaimed “You Get What You Need” “Wednesday.” Another sign at the Windy City’s subway station said “Wild Wild Horses” “Wednesday.” Over in San Francisco, a billboard simply said “Start Me Up” “Wednesday.” In Los Angeles the Staples Center was decorated with projections of phrases that included “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking,” “Lord I Miss You,” “Pleased To Meet You,” and “She Comes In Colors.” The proof was posted via a video on the Stones’ Tumblr. According to Rolling Stone magazine’s blog, multiple Stones “Wednesday” billboards were spotted in Las Vegas.

Hmm. Could it be that Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Las Vegas are stops on the upcoming tour?

Another photo, which didn’t specify a location, was posted on the Stones’ Facebook page showing a billboard near a Subway and McDonald’s that promised “Satisfaction” “Wednesday.” With a Subway and McDonald’s in pretty much every town, this photo could have been taken anywhere in the country. Maybe this means the Stones could even be coming to your town.

In March AEG Live announced it had signed on to promote the Stone’s 18-show arena tour in May and June. The schedule was expected to be revealed in early April.

Last Wednesday was a good day for fans with Glastonbury’s announcement that Stones would headline the 2013 festival. Now we just have to wait two more days to find out what news this Wednesday will bring.
