Help Out St. Jude’s With Darius Rucker & Friends

Darius Rucker has added a special date in the middle of his “True Believers Tour” – the fourth annual “Darius and Friends” benefit concert. Proceeds go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis.

The benefit concert takes place June 3 at the Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville. For now, the only confirmed act is the Hootie & the Blowfish frontman. The rest of the 2013 lineup will be announced soon. During the past three years buddies featured at the event have included Rodney Atkins, Clint Black, Radney Foster, Randy Houser, Jamey Johnson and Kid Rock.

“We started this event with a simple goal in mind, and that was to raise money for St. Jude,” Rucker said. “I had visited their campus in Memphis and was so blown away [by] the facility, staff, and service that I made a pledge to contribute annually. It’s a bonus that I have had such amazing friends join us in the effort.”

Along with a charity auction and a celebrity golf tournament, “Darius and Friends” has raised more than $125,000 for the pediatric treatment and research facility.

Tickets for the 2013 event go on sale to the public Friday at 10 a.m. Central Time. A presale is ongoing now.

Since being founded by the late comedian/actor/producer Danny Thomas in 1962, St. Jude Children’s Hospital has helped the overall survival rate for childhood cancers rise from less than 20 percent to 80 percent. The hospital prides itself on the fact that no family ever pays for their child’s care at St. Jude.
