Big Day Out Back In Auckland

The Big Day Out is returning to Auckland after a hiatus in 2013. Promoter Campbell Smith announced, “We strongly felt that there was real desire for the event to return to Auckland.”

The event was canned when Big Day Out founder Ken West and new partner C3 Presents, who were rebuilding the festival in Australia, decided that the New Zealand arm was financially unviable.

But Smith said, “We have spent the summer working with the Australian Big Day Out team and American partners C3, the promoters of other major festivals including Lollapolooza, on a plan to bring the BDO back to life in New Zealand.”

The NZ event will move to Western Springs Stadium and its multi-stage music, art and culture event curated specifically for its New Zealand audience.
