The latest word from Boston is that the city has shut down its public transit systems, telling commuters via Twitter: “Go/stay home.”

But it’s not just municipal transportation that has ceased.  Amtrak has stopped trains running north and south of the city.  Add that to the suspended cab services, commuter trains and subways, and you have a city where almost all activity has ceased until further notice.

So far, Pollstar has received word of three postponements for gigs scheduled for tonight (April 19).  Here are the changes we have so far.

The Joy Formidable’s appearance at House Of Blues Boston has been postponed until June 20.

Brown Bird at Brighton Music Hall has been postponed.  A new date will be announced shortly.

Amon Tobin’s DJ set at Paradise Rock Club has been postponed.  A new date will be announced.

Of course, clubs, theatres and other venues could be nixing shows scheduled for tonight even as you read this.  Our best advice is to check with the venue before leaving your home.
