Hallowed Hedges Survive

University of Georgia officials are said to be contemplating hosting more concerts at the 92,746-cpapacity Sanford Stadium in Athens after an April 13 concert headlined by Jason Aldean went off without a hitch.

University President Mike Adams told the Athens Banner-Herald that despite initial concerns, the event attended by more than 60,000 fans was a great success with no reports of any significant problems.

That good report must also include the venue’s hallowed hedges, which Live Nation was required to spend up to $10,000 to ensure the shrubbery was protected from rowdy fans and souvenir hunters and to supply extra security personnel.

Also on the bill were Luke Bryan, Jake Owen and Thomas Rhett and surprise guest Ludacris.

University officials had previously vetoed hosting concerts by Bruce Springsteen and Athens-based R.E.M.
