Turf, Part Two

A new field at Grand Forks, N.D.’s Alerus Center barely had a chance to become home turf before being ripped out and replaced.

The venue completed a $4 million turf upgrade about seven months ago but staff reportedly encountered problems during conversions from its arena setup to the football field.

At times, the sidelines would be out of alignment, Alerus Center Operations manager Jeremy Linstad told the Grand Forks Herald, which must have created some issues for the University of North Dakota football team that plays in the arena.

However, turf manufacturer AstroTurf is “making things right,” Linstad added.

The company has removed the turf and is scheduled to return in June to install new turf free of charge.
