Furthur Nixes BottleRock Gig

Bob Weir will rest for a couple of months following his onstage collapse last week in Port Chester, N.Y. Furthur has canceled its next week’s appearance at California’s BottleRock Napa Valley, and will not return to the road until July.

Removing BottleRock from Furthur’s calendar means the band’s next scheduled appearance isn’t until July 11 in Brooklyn at the Barclays Center.

Furthur was playing the last show of its nine-night residency at Port Chester’s Capitol Theater when Weir suddenly collapsed.  Phil Lesh later told the Marin Independent Journal that Weir was suffering from a “strained shoulder.”

Announcing Furthur was bowing out of BottleRock, a posting on the band’s website reassured fans that the summer tour will take place as planned.

From Furthur.net:

“Due to unforeseen circumstances, Furthur regretfully will be unable to appear as scheduled at BottleRock Napa Valley on Thursday, May 9.  Grateful Dead & Furthur Co-Founder Bob Weir, is unable to perform in any capacity for the next several weeks.

“Furthur featuring Phil Lesh & Bob Weir look forward to returning to the road as scheduled on July 11 in Brooklyn for their Summer tour, which carries them through early October on the West Coast.”
