Metallica’s ‘Orion Music + More’ Announces After Shows

The music won’t stop when Metallica’s Orion Music + More festivities conclude each night of the June 8-9 weekend on Detroit’s Belle Isle.  Late night shows at local Motown venues include performances by Chevy Metal, The Bronx, Baroness and Dillon Francis.

The second annual Orion Music + More features Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rise Against, and Dropkick Murphys on the June 8 lineup while June 9’s list of acts includes Deftones, The Joy Formidable, All Shall Perish and of course, the metal maestros themselves – Metallica.

Here’s the after-show breakdown, which actually begins the night before Orion kicks off.

Presented by Metallica and C3 Presents, Orion Music + More has also announced that its Orion Art Series will once again be curated by Shepard Fairey, whose “Hope” poster featuring then-presidential candidate Barack Obama was one of the defining visuals of the 2008 election.  This year’s Orion Art Series will feature custom screen-printed Orion posters created by Fairey that will be available at the festival.

Of course, this isn’t just another music festival, not when Metallica is doing the planning.  Watch for elements reflecting each band member’s lifestyle, such as James Hetfield’s Custom Car & Motorcycle Show, Kirk Hammett’s Crypt, Lars Ulrich’s Hit The Lights Film Tent and Robert Trujillo’s Vans Vert Ramp as well as the Metallica Museum.
