Co-produced by Craig Ross and Griffin, American Kid drops May 7, marking the artist’s seventh studio album and her first for New West.  Griffin has said that much of the material on the album “was written to honor” her father.

Griffin was joined by a few friends on American Kid, namely North Mississippi Allstars’ Luther and Cody Dickinson.  Robert Plant, who Griffin performed with on the rock legend’s Band Of Joy album and tour, contributed vocals to the album’s first single, “Ohio,” as well as tracks “Faithful Son” and “Highway Song.”

Griffin’s touring plans have her playing shows in the U.S. and  Canada from late May through  June.  The artist will spend the last half of July performing in the United Kingdom.  So far, Griffin has one post-U.K. date on her schedule, a mid-August gig at the Rocky Mountain Folks Fest in Lyons, Colo.
