Aerosmith To Rock ‘Backyard Festival’ In NYC

Calling it the “summer backyard party to end all backyard parties,” Living Social has snagged Aerosmith to headline the online marketplace’s “Backyard Festival” on Randall’s Island in July.

Taking over the island July 13, the festival will also feature performances by Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Yeasayer and others.  Can’t you just imagine Jett and Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler roasting weenies on the grill?

Well, maybe not, but there will be plenty of food with a special culinary experience curated by Danny Meyer’s Union Square Events featuring Blue Smoke, El Verano, Taqueria, Box Frites, Union Square Burger and offerings from Creative Juice.

Sponsored by Redd’s Apple Ale, the Backyard Festival will also serve up craft beer and wine from more than 150 brewers and wineries.  Hmmm… something tells us they’ll have no problem attracting more bands.

“This is the backyard party to end all backyard parties,” LivingSocial CEO Tim O’Shaughnessy said.  “When the weather gets hot, Americans have always gathered with friends in their yards to listen to great music, eat great food, share cold beers, and create lifelong memories.  LivingSocial’s Backyard Festival will propel that beloved summer ritual to the next level with legendary bands, world-class cuisine, top-shelf wine and beer, and games for all ages.”
