Jo Dee Messina Reschedules Canada

Saying she doesn’t want to be out of the country while her mother is experiencing health problems, Jo Dee Messina has rescheduled her spring run through Canada.  Originally scheduled to begin at the end of May, Messina’s trek across the provinces is now set for October.

With Messina’s mother hospitalized following heart complications, the artist whose hits include “Bye, Bye,” “I’m Alright” and “That’s The Way” decided she shouldn’t leave the country for an extended time.  Her U.S. schedule beginning May 17 in Renfro Valley, Ky., is unaffected.

Messina told her fans about her decision in an open letter posted on her website.

“I wanted to write you myself and let you know, sadly we had to move those shows to October.  My mother hasn’t been well.  It’s been a day-by-day thing.  One day she’s better, one day she takes two steps back.  I had to be the one to make the call on whether or not we’re going to keep those shows in place or move them.  I didn’t feel comfortable being so far away, not having the ability to get home fast, in case things made a turn for the worse.”

Messina also mentioned that she’ll have some new songs to play for her Canadian fans.

“On a more positive note, when I come up to see you in October we will be bringing the new album with us.  So when you hear the new songs in the show, you will be able to take them home.”

Here are Messina’s rescheduled Canada dates:

Oct. 3 – North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Golden Eagle Casino
Oct. 4 – Swift Current, Saskatchewan, Living Sky Casino
