The Uproar On Walking Papers

Just because one of the bands traveling on this year’s Uproar Festival came into existence in 2012 don’t go thinking it’s made up of a bunch of new faces.  Not with musicians hailing from Guns N’ Roses, Screaming Trees and The Missionary Position making up Walking Papers.

The story behind Seattle’s Walking Papers indicates it’s a band that has grown organically during the past months since its 2012 founding.  Originally a duo featuring guitarist/vocalist Jeff Angell (The Missionary Position) and drummer Barrett Martin (Screaming Trees/Mad Season), Walking Papers advanced to trio status with the addition of GNR/Velvet Revolver vet Duff McKagan on bass.  Three became four when keyboardist Benjamin Anderson, also a Missionary Position vet, came onboard.

Signed with Loud & Proud Records, Walking Papers’ self-titled debut album mixed by Seattle producer Jack Endino (Soundgarden, Nivana, Mudhoney) will drop August 6 – three days before the band hits the road as a second stage headliner on this summer’s Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival tour.  A track from the album – “I’ll Stick Around” – recently debuted on RollingStone.com while two other tracks – “Two Tickets” and “The Whole World’s Watching” – are available for your streaming pleasure via SoundCloud.

At this time the band has a few Euro dates before embarking on the Uproar tour.  Here’s the schedule.
