Odds & Ends: George Michael, Beyoncé, Tim McGraw

George Michael is still in the hospital since being injured in a car accident last week … Jay Z says Beyoncé is not pregnant … “The X Factor” has revealed its two new judges … and Tim McGraw is opening the new Kansas Star Casino’s concert and events center.

More details have emerged about George Michael’s May 16 car accident that occurred on England’s M1 motorway near St. Albans, Hertfordshire.

Although a May 17 statement on the singer’s website says he was being “treated for superficial cuts and bruises,” Michael’s spokeswoman told the BBC News, in a report posted online Tuesday, that he’s still in the hospital.

“We are keen to stress it’s purely as a precaution for observation,” the spokeswoman said. “He did suffer a couple of bumps and bruises to the head and that’s why they are keeping him in – to keep an eye on him. He is doing better. He is making good progress and is looking forward to getting out.”

Michael, who was a passenger in a Range Rover, was airlifted to a specialist trauma center after being found on the road by paramedics. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

Eyewitness Katherine Fox told The Sun she was driving on the M1 when Michael fell out of his car into the third lane of northbound traffic.

“I saw blood everywhere and a man on the ground. … I asked what had gone on and was told he tried to open the car door and shut it again because it wasn’t shut properly and apparently fell out at 70mph.”

Fox called an ambulance and used her car to shield Michael from other vehicles until paramedics arrived.

Jay Z has squashed rumors that he and Beyoncé are expecting their second child.

Gossip sites and fans had been analyzing Beyoncé’s outfits for a “baby bump” and speculating that last week’s Belgium concert was called off because of baby No. 2. The official reason for the cancellation was dehydration and exhaustion.

E! News even reported May 17 that multiple sources had “exclusively” confirmed the pregnancy.

Well, forget the baby shower plans. Radio program director Ebro Darden of New York’s Hot 97 says that after he emailed Jay Z to offer his congratulations, Jay-Z responded to set the record straight.

“I hit him [up] to say ‘Congratulations, man. Send my love to the fam!’ … Do I gotta buy a gift, what?” Darden said in an in-studio video clip (via Rolling Stone). “It’s not true. The news is worse than blogs.”

Simon Cowell will have help looking for America’s next big star from Kelly Rowland and Mexican singer/actress Paulina Rubio.

The artists should have some good advice to lend the groups on “The X Factor.” Both singers got their start in groups with Rowland joining Destiny’s Child in 1992 and Rubio known for being one of the original members of the Latin pop group Timbiriche.

Rowland – who served as a judge on the U.K. version of “The X Factor” in 2011 – and Rubio replace former judges Britney Spears and L.A. Reid.

Along with Cowell, Demi Lovato is returning to the judging panel when the third season of the U.S. edition of “The X Factor” launches this fall.

Tim McGraw is helping the Kansas Star Casino celebrate the opening of its new concert venue in style.

The casino, which opened its permanent location in December 2012, is located in Mulvane, Kan. According to the Wichita Eagle, the concert venue was remodeled after being used as the temporary casino in December 2011.
